Today was another good day for Sharon. It started by having her chest drain removed. This has lessened the pain in that area and also allows her to take deeper breaths. She has also been much less loopy and more engaged in reality, even though the meds didn’t change. She sat in the chair for a good while and then embarked on a marathon, walking an astounding 100' with the walker. It did not set a land speed record, but was still quite impressive. The need to walk more has risen to high priority status as they have taken her catheter out and she will now need to get out of bed to use the bathroom. She is still only able to eat/drink ice chips and remains on oxygen, but signs are that all vital organs affected by the surgery are rebooting and starting to work. In fact, it is likely she will be moved out of the ICU tomorrow. There are pros and cons to that but it definitely indicates progress.
Sawyer and Ava have returned to Ohio and we are glad they were able to visit and help out. Sharon is still not up for visitors at this time but appreciates everyone continuing to think of her. Also, a note to those who have been leaving comments on the posts: Thank you. We have been reading them all and they are appreciated. I just haven’t commented on the comments because I don’t know if that action will trigger those annoying, automated “Steve has just commented on a comment” emails to everyone subscribed.
I told Sharon that since she is improving she will soon be able to take over the task of providing these updates. She gave me the stink eye.
Walking is very good, speed will come. So happy to hear her organs are firing up! I'm not a doctor but I imagine she will need them fully functioning at some point. Safe travels home for Sawyer and Ava. Sending prayers for many more forward steps!
That’s all great news !! Outstanding, keep it up Sharon we’re all thinking of you daily!❤️😀👍
Great to hear the continued progress. Thanks for the regular updates. We check the feed every evening and appreciate the grace and humor in your posts. Hopefully you find the writing to be somewhat cathartic. Our continued prayers to Sharon for a speedy recovery. Gotta go finish my weekend honey do list before Amy starts giving me the “stink eye”.
Steve I think you should continue to be in charge of the updates. Sharon already has a big job healing. 😳😆
Sending love and healing energy from Bucks County! Keep giving the stink eye, Sharon. Hang in there, all of you!
