I had my first follow-up appointment with my surgeon yesterday. Sorry for not posting yesterday, but that excursion exhausted me and I slept most of the rest of the day. The staples were removed from my incision - all 44 of them! Most everything is progressing as expected. I’m walking a little more each day, eating a variety of easy-to-digest foods in small meals, and starting to recognize that the outside world still exists. My focus was so narrow for so long - it’s nice now to have a visitor here and there and do things besides just nap all day.
I’m still short of breath more than expected, so I have an appointment with a pulmonologist on Monday. I’m also being tested for sleep apnea.
Shane is still hanging out with us until this coming Sunday and it’s so great to have him here. He makes the best French toast! He decided that our house needed to be more “civilized,” so he installed bidets in all of our bathrooms. It’s a good accessory to have, especially with my digestive system still figuring things out. (TMI?)
I am definitely losing more hair than usual. My doc said it’s from the stress of recovery. It will be a while yet before I can drive or hang out at the pool, but at least I can see how far I’ve come already, even though there’s a long way to go.
I had my first non-medical outing - we went to the Milkshake Factory. It was delicious and nice to get out of the house.
Thank you all for following along, and just for caring. I probably won’t post anything more unless it’s a major milestone. Nobody wants to read a post that says, “Sharon ate a pretzel today.” I’m up to answering texts and sometimes phone calls, so feel free to reach out. I love you all and am so thankful to have you all on Team Sharon! XO
Been following along and I’m glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. It never goes as fast as we want it to. Be patient, you have been a trooper, you will get there! Sending love a prayers your way.
Sharon!! You are dealing with this like a champ. Thank you for the updates. I too would appreciate if the series continues, however sporadically, to give us all a chance to celebrate Sharon! We will raise a pretzel in your honor.
Proud member of “Team Sharon” 💗💗
You can just install bidets on existing toilets?? Shows how little I know about them. Stay strong Sharon, thanks for the updates!
So happy your feeling good enough to go out! And I totally would love to hear "Sharon ate a pretzel"!! Truly appreciate your keeping us updated! But definitely focus on yourself. You deserve it. You have been though a lot and even though you are getting better and some issues may seam small compared to what you have gone through don't minimize them! They are real, they are stressful, depressing and no fun. Stay strong, enjoy the bidet :) and remember there are many people thinking of you and sending lots of prayers and love. XOXO
