Hello, my dearest friends and family. We are nowhere near the end of this recovery, but coming home was a huge step. Although they sent me home with a walker, I have been getting around ok without it. I have very little stamina, but of course, each day improves a bit. Today, with assistance, I walked to the mailbox. Crazy what we take for granted.
My pain is mostly under control. I’m eating small meals that are easy to digest, and trying to increase my protein intake, as recommended. We Smiths are known for our taste tests, and after testing several liquid nutrition/protein drinks, I’ve declared the winner to be Orgain. Still not delicious, but at least I don’t say, “Ugh” after every sip.
Shane has come home for a while to help us out and amuse me. It’s wonderful to have him here, even though we all hate the reason for it.
I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve all of your love, caring, cards, prayers, and friendship, but I can only tell you that my heart is overflowing. When I cry now, it’s usually emotional overload for a kindness extended to us, rather than out of pain or frustration. (Okay, sometimes that too.) You’ve held me up through a horrid experience. My deepest thanks and love to you all.
I just read this post to Steve, who is in the other room. He yelled, “BORING” after every paragraph, but he’ll get over it, or he’ll take back the reins.
Thinking of you often my friend. So happy you are home and, as expected, getting terrific support from Steve and the boys. Looking forward to when we can be together laughing and playing games again. I'm headed off this morning for a colonoscopy, which I'm not looking forward to but know is nothing compared to what you've been through. Linda Cook
I think Shane wanted to come home to see for himself how wonderful his mother is doing. Just enjoy. 🥰💕🙏
Great to hear from you, Sharon! You're awesome
So happy to hear from you! So glad you are home. prayers and hugs!🥰
You are awesome! I don't know if this will help you but when I needed to drink ensure the colder it was when I drank it, the better it tasted. The mailbox is no joke! You got some sun and fresh air! WOO HOO!!!!
